The Cofresco Forum’s 11th Round Table focuses on the use of biobased materials to protect food. Lectures by international experts on the subject provided a comprehensive overview of current research. In an extensive hands-on session, attendees also had the opportunity to view the ATB’s test equipment and experiments.
The speakers focused not only on materials, but also on other ideas to improve the conservation of food. The 11th Round Table of the Cofresco Forum at the Leibniz Institute provided answers and insights on the following topics and questions:
During the hands-on session, participants were able to view the research centre of the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy. The laboratories used to produce basic materials for bioplastics were inspected and test series for various approaches to food preservation were presented.
After the session, the attendees had the opportunity to network with the speakers and other participants during a casual get-together.
The conference pack and the presentation are to be found at the download center.

The Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy as a nationally and internationally acting institute is researching at the interface of biological and technical systems. Its research is aimed at sustainable intensification. To this end, it analyses, models and evaluates bio-economic production systems. The institute develops and integrates new technologies and management strategies for a knowledge-based, site-specific production of biomass, and its use for food, as biobased materials and fuels - from basic research to application. It thus contributes to food security, animal welfare, the holistic use of biomass, and the protection of the climate and environment.
